In today’s fast-paced world, it is easy to overlook the importance of regular vehicle maintenance, including detailing. Yet, as advocates for automotive excellence, we at Flatirons understand the significant impact that consistent detailing can have on the health and longevity of your vehicle. We will discuss why waiting to get your detailed every few years can lead to increased costs, persistent soiling, and irreversible paint defects, and opting for a quick, drive-through wash will inevitable fall short of achieving optimal results.

The Pitfalls of Procrastination
While it may seem harmless to sporadically take your vehicle through a drive-through car wash, this approach can have detrimental effects on your vehicle’s appearance which may affect the resale value, comfort, and overall quality of your vehicle. While convenient, drive-through car washes that offer quick services like quick surface wipes simply cannot deliver the same results as a professional detailing crew. By wiping over, masking, and applying dressing, these services often fail to address the underlying dirt & grime. Soiling and staining deepen over time, becoming increasingly resistant to extraction. Odors left unchecked for months may not be fully removed, despite industrial grade deodorizing methods. Certain contaminants such as bird-droppings, tree-sap, and road-tar, can deteriorate the clear coat of your vehicle, often leaving an imprinted etch that requires body-shop services to remove. Paint defects such as pitting, chipping, swirling, etc., also left unattended, may require costly wet-sanding or even a full respray to remedy.

The Price of Waiting
Contrary to popular belief, waiting to address your vehicle’s detailing needs can actually result in higher expenses down the line. Stubborn stains and soiling become more ingrained over time, requiring intensive and additional effort to remove. As a result, detailing prices may increase to account for the extra labor, supplies, and specialized treatments needed to restore your vehicles finishes. Services such as paint correction, hot-water extraction, wet-sanding, and leather re-dye are not included in our normal list of detailing services; most professional detailing businesses, including Flatirons, will assess an uncharge fee upon examination of your vehicle in-person. While generally speaking, an interior detail on a mid-size SUV may require 3-4 man hours, we have experienced first-hand a mid-size SUV detail requiring 7-9 on the interior alone - please remember, the condition of vehicles can vary greatly. Untreated stains, heavy pet-hair, hay/straw, mud, and similar elements will always require additional labor and time.
At Flatirons Detailing, we understand the intricacies of automotive care and the importance of regular maintenance detailing. Our services go beyond the surface level cleaning that most have come to expect from other detailing services, utilizing premium products and techniques to ensure thorough and long-lasting results. From comprehensive interior detailing to precision-based paint correction, we are committed to preserving your vehicle’s beauty and value for years to come.
